Hi res earth textures for mac

Post #1by bh » 20.09.2006, 21:20

I was wondering if I could just transfer my hires earth VT (dds) (Walton's) to my new mac (yes...I've switched!)? I tried moving the textures folder and the ctx but I don't get an Alternate texture option from the menu.

Is there a faq for mac?

If you're using a DDS texture on the latest version from CVS, I suspect it wont work. It's a bug with DDS textures.

Did you used a proper SSC file to activate the texture, like this ?

Code: Select all

AltSurface "Name" "Sol/Earth"
{
   Texture "file name"
        NormalMap "file name"
}
"Well! I've often seen a cat without a grin", thought Alice; "but a grin without a cat! It's the most curious thing I ever saw in all my life!"

I think I read somewhere that "S3TC texture compression" is required on your graphics card in order to handle DDS's. Not 100% sure about this, although this PDF seems to imply I'm right.
( I hope you checked this before your purchase :wink: )

Try googling "S3TC texture compression DDS"
