Visible Barycentre orbits - request for executable

Post #1by Malenfant » 04.09.2006, 15:52

I'm wondering if anyone out there has a tweaked version of the default Celestia 1.4.1 windows executable, where the only difference is that you can see orbits around Barycentres (being able to toggle them would be nice, but not essential).

Or if it's not too difficult to tweak the code to make them visible, could someone please do that and compile the executable and make it available somehow? I need them to be visible for a project I'm working on, and the other ways to make them visible (e.g. by putting planets inside the stars etc) are just going to be too time-consuming given the number of multiple systems I'm working on here.

I know, I know, it's heresy to ask this and I'm sure I'll get people telling me that I'm lazy and to make it myself, but I have neither the time nor the means nor the ability to do so. Hence my request. But it's not a big change to make, so I figure someone must either already have this lying around or wouldn't mind spending a few minutes to make it?

Thanks!

I'm actually working on this right now. Visible star orbits will come along with the depth sorting rework that I'm currently busy with. The changes needed to make star orbits visible with the current code are non-trivial due to some unfortunate code structuring and not any fundamental difficulty.

Doh, I thought it'd just be case of turning on a simple flag or something... you doing some serious refactoring there? ;)

Well if it's definitely going to be in the next patch/version of Celestia I guess I can wait...!
