All Vts

Post #1by guillaume_2k3 » 08.07.2006, 11:00

Virtual Textures are really awesome!
Great work !
I've downloaded textures for Earth, Mercury and Mars, but I can't find other detailed textures for others planets.

Does anyone knows where can I find all the VT for the 9 planets ??

Most of links I found are broken....

When I'll have the 9th textures, I'll add a download mirror on my site.

Thanks.

Hello guillaume_2k3, if you go here

http://celestiamotherlode.net/catalog/solarsystem.php

and give a look at the various planets links, you'll find that there are VTs for Mercury, Earth, Moon, Mars, Io, Ganimede, Europa, Callisto, and (partially) Titan, no more as per my knowledge.
May be, but I've not checked it, that if you dig in

http://celestiamotherlode.net/creators/

you'll find something else, but mostrly fictional.
The reason is obvious: there are not enough information/images to obtain a detailed VT map for all the other Solar System objects.
Hope this can help you.
Bye

Just to add to Andrea's reply,

Celestians, in the main part work on a 'limit of knowledge" basis which is why many of the..... errm... "closer planets/objects"(-relative to Earth that is...) have much more detail (models at all... :? ) the exciting thing though is that we are still sending craft out toward the Oort to take funky pics that are beamed back :P (perhaps for the sole benefit to add to the addons/texture database   ) so the "limit of knowledge" doesn't actually theoretically have a limit.

Cheers
