You can use Photoshop with a plugin from nvidia, or GIMP

Editing .DDS files

Hi!
To edit and work with files in .DDS format you have to download a plugin for photoshop (working even in paint shop pro) here:

http://developer.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO ... ion_plugin

The plugin is in a binary format, but to use it just put the file in the [plugins] directory of the program: in photoshop you should already have others .bin files. Then you can open the file from within photoshop and save it in many different compressions: a pre-saving window will show you all the options. To open the file with the "classic" double click you have to choose the application (i.e. Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro) and register the format .DDS with it.
Hop you find this useful.

Bye!

personally I dont recommend editing DDS files due to the fact the compression reduces the overall look of the image to blotchyness...

Use the inline tools if your a Win32 user...The photoshop plugins work on a flip of the coin...hehe like Windows most of the time ;)...

The exe you want to run from Start > Run and type in the name of the exe and the filename to decompress...

The nvidia tools are on the main site...
I'm trying to teach the cavemen how to play scrabble, its uphill work. The only word they know is Uhh and they dont know how to spell it!
