Hello all,
I'm trying to finish a new texture, but I'm having a little trouble with the poles. I used the Photoshop 'Polar Coordinates' filter to paint them, but when I check out the texture in Celestia, there is still a noticable shearing at the poles ( although it does look better than when I hadn't performed the polar coordinates filter ).
I also just noticed that several default textures also have this same shearing. ( Mars, Moon, Mercury, Jupiter ) Is this just something in Celestia, or should I be using a better tool?
Painting the Poles
Polar coordinates in Photoshop does well a rather wierd job at doing what flexify does a little better...I use a lunaCell overlay...erase it up to the polar bit...use hue/sat and contrast/brightness to blend it in...
I'm trying to teach the cavemen how to play scrabble, its uphill work. The only word they know is Uhh and they dont know how to spell it!
Thanks for your reply Rassilon, but could you explain how I should use Flexify? I first projected my texture from 'equirectangular' to 'polar', then I made my changes. However, I can't seem to reverse the projection. Trying to go from 'polar' to 'equirectangular' made a mess, as did all the other 'outputs' I tried. I apprecieate your help.
