VT Question

Hi all,

Is there a way to make the edges of a surface texture transparent?
I have a source file for a close up that is smaller than 4k by 2k and I was trying to combine it with a transparent texture that is 4k by 2k so it can be used in Celestia. Trouble is that the transparent section comes out black.
I'm using the gimp to edit the textures.

I'm about to go on another road trip so I'll be away from my computer for a while.

Thanks in advance

Transparency is controlled by an Alpha channel, but only for image textures specified within a model. Images applied with a Texture command use the Alpha channel to define specularity instead.

In other words, you'll probably have to merge an image of the surrounding area into the boundaries of the one you're working on. Sorry.
