[1.4.0 FT1.2] Two display problems

Hi!

Sorry if this was already posted in another thread.

When using Celestia 1.4.0 FT 1.2 with the Main Belt Asteroids addon by Arlene Ducao the asteroids seem a little too big in comparance to the rest of the solar system.

Furthermore, when using the same celestia version with Selden Ball's 1,825 Galaxies and Clusters addon, the objects seem a little too bright.

Screenshot demonstrating both problems: Image

Maybe a version problem i've overseen while reading the changelogs or similar?

The picture is freaking AWESOME ! LOL ! This is real funny ! :)

I never saw something like this before. Looks like Celestia on LSD !

Sorry, ... I can't help.

Check the ssc for the asteroids, I seem to recall that one version of the files there has deliberately oversized asteroids (they all have huge radii in the file).

That's not FT1.2's problem...It's the task of the add-on creators
to upgrade their add-ons to the latest official version.

I have discussed at length elsewhere that this add-on is /completely/ outdated and should not be used anymore, since it's input format is /incomplete/ and the DSO's are incorrectly orientated in space.
I think Selden has also added a respective comment to his archive.

Please tell me from where in the respective .dsc file the galaxies should know how bright they are to shine ;-) ? The magnitude information is missing in Selden's catalog and hence they happen to be too bright.

Again:

Not only the AddOn from Selden is outdated but a lot of nice other deepsky addons as nebulas are outdated as well and wrong concerning size and orientation.
The most addon creators perhaps already know but often the right orientation is given at thehttp://hubblesite.org Hubblesite.

Unfortunately, many authors of older Addons are no longer involved with Celestia, so their Addons never will be updated.

I've added notes on my Catalog page mentioning that the galaxies catalog shouldn't be used with Celestia v1.4.0. Of course, that won't be seen by people who downloaded it long ago.
