Recently I found something that will let me make help files, and when I looked at the part where you can make different headings and stuff I though that it might be cool if I made an encyclopedia of interesting things in Celestia using (a) help file(s).
I don't know if that'd be allowed to be put on the Motherlode or not, but hopefully it is.
In it I will include real and fictional systems, all the fictional ones being the ones available on the motherlode. If you'd want to send me a description of any of the planets or other things in the add-ons you've made, tell me here, via PM, via E-mail, or any other way you can. Anyone interest 'cause I'm not gonna bother if no one cares (or it's not allowed)...

A world without Monty Python, gnomes, news crews that make a big deal out of a celebrity breathing, Star Trek, & Coca-Cola? That is impossible! IMPOSSIBLE!

Don't forget that Celestia runs on several different operating systems (Linux, MacOS and Windows). It would be best if you used a Help system that works on all of them.
Also, Celestia has the menu Navigation/Tour Guide which uses information provided in the text file guide.cel, although I'm not sure if that menu item is available under all O/Ss.

It does? DOH! Oh well, atleast this way people can see them when they're using a computer (such as a laptop) that might not be able to support Celestia.
I'll be able to make the help file in several differnt forms, including .hlp and a couple of others.
Ok to make this work though I'll need people to post about their add-ons here! Or else I'm not putting them in there. Also, you can go ahead and give info on items already in Celestia that you think are interesting and should be in encyclopedia. You could even post info on things in our solar system such as planets (the more info the better, and especially better if it's info from people that I can trust know about this stuff and not people I randomly find on the internet via Google) I guess you could even post info about someone else's add-on, in the event that they never look at the Purgatory section or don't come to these forums anymore period.
I am thinking of *maybe* having a little section on the educational tours made for Celestia and also *maybe* having a little section underneath the Earth section about all the hometowns of everyone.
Also, I will probably have to make many "books", and each time I make changes, I will call the new set a volume. So each encyclopedia will be actually be a whole volume of encyclopedias. However, the files will be small. Its just that the help file program seems to be somewhat limited on the size of the help file.

I had an idea similar to this awhile ago but it never went anywhere.
Here's a link containing info on an addon I have in the making involving the Sirius stars:
http://www.bluwiki.org/go/Sirius
This information's going to be updated and changed though, at least until the addon is finished and made available.
I also had a forum on my addons that contained quite a bit of information, I'll have to find the link to it again...
