When I run Celestia,the system prompt me the celestia should be shut down,and report error.I have tried nearly all of the version for PC, tried to run it on Windows 2000 and Windows XP professional,but I failed.

hi what is your grafics card ati or nVidia and if nvidia what driver do you have
open-gl must be installed

If your DirectX really is only v8, then you are using ancient graphics drivers. The current version is v9.0c. Although Celestia uses OpenGL, not DirectX, this indicates that the drivers need to be upgraded.
