you can do that in Anim8or too... only prob is you might have to rotate the texture as well...

Instead of rotating the model, isn't it easier to change it's orientation, inside the .ssc file?

That one would make a space ship point towards the planet, flying on it's side... you'll have to test it to see which one of the values controls the axis you're trying to rotate the ship.

What year are you starting as the beginning for the spaceplane?

The first proposed manned flight that was to occur was scheduled for July 1, 1966.

Sorry...

This does indeed change the orientation of the Dynasoar, but it still flies
backwards on my machine. The only difference the orientation parameter
made was that it's also now laying on its side too. :wink:

I could just remake and reorient this,but I did already submit it to the motherlode as it is . I'm not a programmer, the .ssc 'what I did was use the hubbles parameters with a few changes, if that clears up anything.

The model itself had challenges in itself being dark and reflective getting the polygons to at least behave reasonably, as for .ssc orientation I'm sure its not that diffucult to make a new one, at least it will give those interested a challenge in programming.

Hi , Bob I e-mailed a fixed orientation version to you, its the upload to motherlode I'm now wondering about, in the fixed version theres also a 0.0.0 oriented model as well that would have to be renamed so anyone that needs a perfect .ssc can build it for the new 3ds included, I will upload it to the motherlode as well. sorry for any screwups.

file will be x20 for celestia fixed.

I've uploaded a somewhat fixed version you may want to repackage it as nesscearry so there isn't 2 files that may confuse, check em out and do whatever you need to, sorry for any mixups ,thanks.

If I want to set the date of appearence to lets say July 1, 1966, what value would i enter in the SSC, is there a converter between dates and the apparently random sequence of numbers such as "Beginning 2448007'?

Are you talking about getting it on the M/L or are you referring
to a fix for the SSC? Just curious. If I had a bit more time, I
could probably figure out what the SSC needs.
But, since you are obviously much talented with the
coordinates, orbital planes, etc... (Hint, hint :wink:)

By the way, ScyBladeghost, there was NO need for other models
and other orientations of the models. This problem still needs to
be addressed with an SSC file which describes the object's
orbital properties so that it does what we think it should do.

More models are just confusing the issue here... Sorry, just
my opinion.

It is a cool model though. Deserves to be viewed
correctly.

Dear BDBob, if you were to view the original setup in max you would would see the model as an upside down dart sticking in the ground at an angle, the fixed model uses the original coordinates in the first .ssc that it would fly properly, the models 3ds coordinated I adjusted. if you were to load it into anim8tor and try to rotate the model it would get all screwed up, (I tried it to see what would happen) so thats why I thought I'd correct it somewhat by making also available the proper model to make a proper .ssc but to make a correct .ssc with proper coordinates it would be advisable to use the new 0.0.0 model so that everything works correctly.

for the time being the new x20 file replacement file just makes the orbiter fly somewhat more correctly using current .ssc parameters. I'm just a modeler not a scientist, just trying to help. I've submitted all the files to adirondack so maybe he can correct what needs done before it gets uploaded to the motherlode. for everyone.

anyhow you do have everything you may need for the Dynasoar to fly again one way or another. best Luck with it.

Sorry John, I'm the very last person in the world who knows anything about
science. <Hee, hee, cough> Unfortunately though, I do have a love
for it. <shrug>

Ulrich is very good at these kinds of things, but I will have a look at it when I
get a bit more time. I can fix it, but it will take me about a week to
figure it out. There really are others here who could do it in two minutes.

Please make sure to pack your ZIP-files properly in the future. I'm sure, all users (especially all newbies) will be thankful. Otherwise Celestia will not show your beautiful models without moving the files to correct folders manually.

So what? In space there is no up and down, left or right... :lol:
Space Shuttle also doesn't always fly with its nose in the direction of its flight...

about flying backwards, especially if you're in re-entry mode. :wink:

By the way, my space shuttle flies with it's nose pointed in the direction
it's travelling. Hmm... Come to think of it, so does my copy of the 2001
ship. Maybe I can figure out what I did there.
