The Primitive Earth and Moon Activity - almost done!

Hi Folks:

Many of you have been waiting patiently for word on the progress of the new Primitive Earth and Moon Activity and add-on that I am developing in collaboration with Don Edwards and Jestr.

:D I am pleased to report that it is almost ready for release. Frankly, Don Edwards and Jestr outdid themselves in their graphics ability. The add-on is spectacular, and in my opinion, is one of the best ever done.

Here are three screenshots, to wet your whistle, so to speak!

The planet Orpheus about to collide with our young Earth 4 billion years ago

The ring of rubble surrounding the remains of Earth after the collision. The new moon is beginning to form to the left center.

Earth Mark 2 in the background, and our new primitive Moon in the foreground, located only 20,000 km from Earth.

I will announce the release of the Activity and add-on here, and in the add-on section of the forum. I will post the files on the Motherlode. Be warned ... they will be large. the Hires version of the Activity is over 500 MB in size. The Medres version is about 80 MB in size. The good news is that the medres version will run on even modest computers.

Stay tuned! :D

Frank

A world without Monty Python, gnomes, news crews that make a big deal out of a celebrity breathing, Star Trek, & Coca-Cola? That is impossible! IMPOSSIBLE!

One question, what type of collision is it that is depicted? Is it a complete collision, or a "glancing blow", where orpheus would have missed Earth if it (orpheus) were quite a bit smaller?

I ask because I remember seeing something on the science channel where it was a glancing blow that formed the moon.

I can't see the pictures, all that's showing up on my computer are boxes with red crosses. :(

EDIT: Don't worry about it, all of the pictures are showing up now, nice work.
