no description, a .zip file. Too bad there isn't a "Why would I download that?" option in the pool.

Well, this hack isn't really all that different to what you can already do in Celestia with A,Z,X and left-mouse-button dragging (in fact, there's also a bug currently in Celestia that causes the velocity to track the camera - but that's a different story).
What would be really nice would be a hack that allows you to change the velocity by applying 'thrust' with six keys - as a prelude to a more advanced hack that simulates gravitational effects...

Oops i was a bit vague as to what the hack contains.

Here it is.
Inside is a celestia.exe a readme.txt and the butchered source files based on the 1.2.0 source.

well i'm affraid they are right, despite best intentions i'm sure, this hack does not do anything that you can't do with the standard celestia. what is needed is a way to cruise around very smoothly. for instance try to fly up to a planet, do a couple of orbits while looking at the planet and then fly on to another object. This is not easy to do (although possible) and certainly can't be done in a smooth fashion.

one, you dont have to hold down the mouse button to change your orientation.
two. your velocity now automatically tracks with your orientation..
three, you can change your velocity with the mouse wheel.

mabey you can do this with the Jstick, but that wasnt the point.
