Seriously, I didn't have the intention of sparking some hellacious arguement or semantical debate by just asking a simple question.

My apologies.

Don't stop asking questions! We're just having a discussion about things, it's not your fault. As I said before, if you have any more questions, please don't be afraid to ask.

let's now definitely forget that incident! Thanks for your straight explanations.

Incident forgotten. ;)

What do you think about the other ones i've pointed to you? Jestr' is avaible on his second site listed, but Praesepe's and Don's look like unreachable :-( Maybe they are mirrored on CML? I can search for the copies in my archives, and send them somewhere (if Don Edwards is agree, of course) Jeam

No surprise, Steve is definitely the wrong address ;-).

Steve has never been doing phantasy textures. His
expertise is to use the latest /photographic/ imaging from
space missions and doing cylindrical projections & mosaics.

I never look at the Motherlode, but I remember Jens (JIM)
once made a 2k fictional pluto add-on that superimposes
some hires texture on my albedo map (second thumbnail image on top left).

I have that archive as well. It also includes a bumpmap. So
get it from here, if you don't have it yet...

I'm sorry, Unfound, I thought you had already been directed to where a hypothetical but detailed Pluto texture could be found, and then you mentioned about not being happy with your Ganymede texture (spelling is 'm-e-d-e', if you wish to search...), so I directed you to Steve Alber's site, which has a Ganymede texture. The fact that there's no Pluto texture there is because of what t00fri indicated: there are no close up images of Pluto whatsoever.

Hello guys, here is a summary with some picts :

REAL accurate knowledge about pluto/Charon made by Fridger Schrempp.
This is the textures in the recent Celestia.

FICTION : there are different textures.
I discover that some of are unavaible. I can provide the textures,
if someone can host... CML? What do you think about? Tell me, Jeam

The one Fridger as speaking about, by Jens, a Ganymede-like texture*,
adapted with theprevious one. http://home.arcor.de/jimpage/

(*Remember, Before the accuracy by Fridger, the default texture was a
Ganymed-like one)

Pluto concept 4 by Don Edwards

(Not avaible: Don, Please, can we use this texture, or you don't want see it avaible again?)

New Pluto 2k by Praesepe

The link seems dead? http://www.la-guarida.com/Celestia

And Jestr has created other pluto/Charon tex in in 'Majormoons' package

I've quickly made my own version of Pluto using the Europa/Enceladus textures provided with Celestia as well as the default Pluto texture:

4 plutos and no Charon in sight! Maybe I should make one of those.

EDIT: Here's Charon, which I created using Miranda/Callisto textures:

Pluto: you abuse of the'tampon' tool (don't know the english term, the tool witch duplicates some part of text in photoshop) with the 4 craters :) :) :) Charon, if you spoke about my colation Iwrote that Jestr provided text for the 2 bodies (the 2 picts)(for the others, yes, there are double shots of different Pluto semisphere). Ok, I used Jens for pluto and jestr for Charon. But jestr's charon just has the image, no bump map. Is this going to cause problems when I switch up the texture files fo Charon? Oh, and what exactly DO I do with Bump Maps? Where do i put them, what are they for? :?
Just passin' through.

In English it's called the Clone Brush.
Are you talking about the line of three identical double craters? If you are, these could be similar to that big line of craters on Callisto. I made both of these very quickly, mostly to demonstrate what sort of textures you can make in an instant without much trouble, I also did it because I like creating textures. :)

So there was a Charon texture. I must have missed that. :?

You don't need to have bump maps if they are not included. They are an extra texture to make the surface look more 3d by adding shadows, if you have bump maps, you just put them in your regular textures directory.
