Hi,

You can download this test release of the shuttle + FlightDeck/MidDeck (the MidDeck is more than simple...); I'm interested in feedback about FPS, normals, leaks, etc... Is all is good final release on ML this week.

Known issues:

- Wrong color of letters.

Next step is an astronaut... unfortunatly if we want it with good details, the model will be quite heavy... If someone have docs (images) of the flight suits and helmet, I take .

Bye

EDIT: Do not care about the ssc, it's just a long/lat for test.

Hello,
The flight deck looks awesome! I love the detail in the seats and the controls, and with no noticable drop in framerate! At least with a 2.5 Ghz, ATI Radeon 2250, and 256 mb of RAM. Will the control panels have textures like in previous pics? I thought they looked great and helped to break up the grey.

Now all we need a cargo bay to look at through those windows.

ElChristou... I feel like a dork for asking - but how exactly do I navigate inside to see the model? All I can do is peer inside the window... if I try and go inside, I don't have sensitive enough control over speed with the a-z commands. And home/end don't bring me inside...

Thanks

I haven't downloaded the new version yet, so I'm not sure whether this will work, but give it a try...

With my Tintin model I had a similar poblem; hitting the Home key only gets you close and -seemingly- no further after a while. If you keep holding the key down, after a fairly long time your view starts to zoom in again.

Hope it works!

Hello,

Noticed on the left side, where the grey part of the nose meets the black, there's a small triangular hole where I can see into the flight deck. Doesn't bode well for our astronauts.

At first for me it was also a problem, but with time and practice... The best is to go at a distance, to have time to decelerate. You have to "enter" the model at a very slow speed (1-2m/s or less), generally pointing to a window; once in open the FOV and try to stop not using "s", better deccelerate to 0 with "z" ( in case you want to move your pov again using "a" will increase speed slowly).

I will try to use Jestr's technic to have a point of reference inside the FD.

TX, will go for it.

Hello ElChristou,

for images of the flight suit, try here http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/gallery/
search using kewords "launch entry suit"

ElChristou wrote:No one has problem with some flikering with the scew around the windows?

I have no depth sorting issue with the screws, the only flickering I get is at a distance when the screw mesh goes sub pixel size. I think this is normal.

All else in the FD is looking good. :)

Performance-
(see my sig for pc specs)

fullscreen @ 1024x768
32k Earth VT's with spec map
32k Normal VT's 24bit
4k clouds
4 x antialias

without shuttle = 40 fps
with shuttle = 24 fps

Many thanks for your work.

Hi,

Finally during the last adjustments, I decide to texturate some of the panels inside the FD... so will need a few days before release.

The astronauts are not so easy... Perhaps Fridger's idea wasn't so bad

To relax I'm working a bit on the payload. Actual state (15% over):

To everybody, all good documents (hires or with nice details) are always welcome...

For example:

- a close-up of the doors's section (1)
- a close-up of cameras (2)
- a close-up of this... I don't know what... locate in (3)

At the date, I think that I have spend much time browsing the Nasa sites than modeling... :x

googling for
shuttle payload bay doors
turned up quite a few high resolution pictures of shuttles being loaded in the VAB.

Here's a high resolution (3Kx2K) picture showing the payload bay of Endeavour:

http://science.ksc.nasa.gov/shuttle/missions/sts-108/images/high/KSC-01PD-1731.jpg

It shows #1 quite well. #2 & #3 are fuzzy, but they may be shown well enough for your model.

Tx a lot Selden. There is so much Nasa pages containing pictures... This one is pretty good for what I need.

Tx again.

EDIT:
The cameras (2) and (3) still not enough clear :x
But this picture give me good points on the articulation (grabs on doors, not on body...)

Guys, my request remain valid. (Others docs from others part are also welcome for sure)

I think myself and TERRIER got many payload details pretty good...also don't forget the tunnel/hatch at the bottom of the payload bay. Feel free to use the old shuttle model payload details for a reference or what ever...this model is looking superb.

Pity I can't yet use cmod.

Are you talking about documents I don't know yet or those you send me?

Here is an example of very usefull image for me; this one plus the one from Selden (below) give me all I need for the articulation:

For the cameras the best I have found yet is this... and still not enough :x

The big missing piece is the high gain antenna... yet I haven't found good docs...

Do you talk about the acess for ISS?

bh wrote:Feel free to use the old shuttle model payload details for a reference or what ever...
Yes, this is exactly what I do, but I will increase a bit the level of details...

WHY don't you install a 1.4prev6 in a separate folder???

Tx a lot Sundog. Those are also welcome.

Guys, I thank you again (Terrier, Bh, Selden, Sundog, etc) but if I want to gain some time, I don't want to make you loose yours (this form in english must not be really correct, no?) I know you are all busy, so don't worry too much with this. I think much more people over there must have some spare time, so if they help, good, if not... well the models will just be released a bit later... it's all.

Tx again guys.
