Fridger,

I'm sure if I searched the forum really hard I could find some reference on whether you propose to include your AWESOME galaxy renderings into the next prerelease. However, I gave up searching.

If not, would you consider a temporary prerelease of your addon? I loved the pictures and the accuracy. Interesting that a little (well maybe not a little) math code can generate those structures.

I wish I had changed my major 20 years ago, being a math teacher with a degree in aerospace engineering, albeit fun and rewarding, doesn't make for a good programmer.

And now for a little begging.

A new prelease, including Dr. Schrempp's new code should be availalbe in just a few days.

Cheers,

Right!

Chris is off climbing Mt. Baker again until this weekend, but he has been working hard to integrate our galaxy code, his own new shader code for ellipticals and many of DoctorJoe's patches. The new 1.4.0 pre version is unavoidable ;-) .

I have commited already a reduced list of 942 galaxies from Steinicke's revised NGC/IC 2005 catalog (including all 43 Messier galaxies of course). That list was generated from my complete list of 10000+ galaxies by applying a Bmag<12 cut. (Bmag=blue band apparent magnitude).
I did also commit already my latest Titan and Iapetus textures and quite a few of my binary orbits...

Isn't it about time for a new "official" version of Celestia, not just another prerelease?

Not so fast, bud. Odds are, you will be back at doing patches in no time!

Anyway, it would be great to see a new "official" release. Celestia 1.5 Final would be a fitting name to the next "official" release. Later!

Well, you're probably right... but I can't take credit for the patches themselves - it was a doctorjoe with help from Dirkpitt. Of course, if anyone reading this wants to write a patch that starts to incorporate sound effects, I'd be happy to provide them...

I am so very exited. Thank you. I am really going to have to re-evaluate my graphics processing card.
