cel://URL problems on FC

Hi everyone.
About a week ago I decided to try celestia 1.3.2 on my Fedora Core 4 Linux box and the problems started. At first it was "Segmentation Fault" when starting celestia - fglrx ati drivers , now with default MesaGL radeon driver, it's slow, but it works.
And now I'm having big problems with cel://URLs. I'm using mozilla firefox 1.0.4 browser and when I click on a cel://URL - "cel is not a registred protocol". I tried mozilla 1.7.8 and I added file type "cel", but no change. I installed 2 different rpms and I even compliled celestia, still no change. Also I can't get URLs from celestia. Then I decided that FC4 is the problem so I installed a fresh FC3 but the same problem exists. I searched google and this forum but i couldn't find a solution.
I'm using Gnome and my video card is radeon 8500. And my goal is to use the Educational Activities only with free or open source software.

These are both not really Celestia's problems:

1) The fglrx drivers ( even the newest ones) are still very buggy. For ATI cards, I recommend the xorg-6.8.2 'radeon' driver instead. It is only a little slower but stable. Clearly, there is NO comparison in performance to NVIDIA drivers.
With my rather oldish FX 5900 Ultra, I get 130-150 fps throughout under Celestia-KDE fullscreen (1600x1200 pix, 32 bit color planes, 4x anti alias...)

2) Under Linux, the cel://url feature is strictly for KDE (konqueror). It simply has not been implemented for firefox. After all, there is a Celestia-KDE version that works perfectly with konqueror. There are just too many browsers and too many Linux flavours, in comparison to the menpower in the Celestia development team.

I use firefox myself, of course ;-)

Bye Fridger

Thank you for the quick reply.
I bought the ati card back when I was a windows user and now I deeply regret doing that.
I guess I'm in the worst position as linux-gnome-ati-firefox user.
