Mac users: 10.4.1 very nice update

Post #1by julesstoop » 17.05.2005, 02:19

The Celestia experience has improved considerably for me in the past few minutes. I've just installed Mac OS X 10.4.1 and it makes my Celestia install much more fluid.
Especially load times for textures and the associated stalls feel greatly reduced.

I just installed Celestia 1.4 on Mac OS X 10.4.0 on an external hard drive, using a brand new PowerBook. Celestia crashes immediately whenever I try to use the mouse for something else than navigation. When I left-click objects to select them or when I right-click on an object to change to an altSurface, Celestia crashes. Everything else works fine and smooth. I installed quite a bit of Add-ons, but the same Celestia installation worked fine with 10.3.9. I start the computer with an external hard drive with only the system and Celestia on it.

My question now is: Did anybody else experience the same bug in 10.4.0? If yes: Does the upgrade to 10.4.1 help with that?

I can't reproduce this issue on 10.4.0. Please open the file "Celestia.crash.log" inside the Library/Logs/CrashReporter in your home folder and private message me the contents.

I'm really terrified with this. I was planning to upgrade to a new machine with Tiger, but Celestia HAVE to be running well on it.

I really hesitate to install Tiger.

I'm also unfamiliar with the problem. It seems like something coincidential.

don't panic!
I will try it again with 10.4.1 and tell you the result. Seems that only I am encountering this problem...

Just chiming in as another 10.4.1 user... thus far, no probs in 1.32 or 1.4pre - though I only quickly ran through each to test

Now as I reinstalled Tiger and upgraded to 10.4.1 I don't have any more problems with pre 1.4 neither. 10.4.1 works well, although I don't really see any differences in performance to 10.3.9.
Looks like the problem I had was just a coincidential bug.
