Well, the textures will be another big part for this model... I have calculated I will need between 15 to 25 files to do a good job... actually the 3ds is about 3 mgs, so in cmod + textures files... will be next to 20 mgs
So I think I will release first the untextured version, and work on textures with more time...

SO, before the release, last shot, 90% over:

ElChristou,

while I am far from being a "model fetichist", THAT ONE DOES LOOK GOOD! Keep on going. I want the "king-size" version, please ;-)

Thanks,

Bye Fridger

Hi,

Someone knows how many seats can be seen from the outside of the cockpit?

I don't think it's a good idea to represent the seats inside the cockpit. It will slow down Celestia for nothing, and it can't be very realistic anyway, without the astronauts inside. IMHO, just gives the windows an opaque and shinny aspect, and you'll be done ! Imagination will do the rest.

Who said we won't see astronauts??
Don't worry about the performaces within Celestia, all work fine with my poor configuration... (and with your new double G5 you won't have any problems )

I suspect that all 4 seats would be visible, depending on the viewing angle.

Don't forget that some people like to explore inside models, too!

ElChristou,

...hence please provide decent clothing to these gentlemen!
Don't forget trousers and 'stuff' (I'd love naked
astronouts  , but that would surely offend our American
minors ;-) )

ElChristou,

That sure is a fine looking model. Excellent work.

Maybe this will help. It's a QTVR (Quicktime Virtual Reality) showing a "complete" view of the inside of the shuttle cockpit. (1,074 Kb).

http://www2.sjsu.edu/depts/it/edit278/s ... uttle5.mov

You will need Apples Quicktime to view it.

Keep up the great work.

I was quietly hoping you would do a "highres" cockpit. :)

Glad I could help.

If you really want to impress, you can always do models of the Atlantis with the original cockpit layout, and the new (since 2000) "glass cockpit" layout.

Let's not forget our layyydee astronauts too, especially thinking about the Commander of the next shuttle mission (STS-114 Launch window July 13-31) Eileen Collins and I think a mention should also go to Wendy Lawrence who is also going to be part of the next shuttle crew.

cheers,

Heck !, You're not planning on doing a semi-transparent space shuttle ( like you did with the MGS ), so we can see inside the Mid-deck ? 8O
