New Shuttle...

Hello everybody,

Ok, before the MO and before ending the SSO, I will work a while on a new shuttle...

Just for info, here the "workshop", where we can see in white the actual model (a bit fragmented), and in color the beginning of the new one (5% over).
We can see also the outlines (profiles) I used to re-create the model...
This is one of... no, THE best way to create fuselage.

Tip for 3D creators: a good 3D soft must handle Gordon and Coon surfaces... those are really usefull and powerfull tools.

First I won't enter in a mathematic description, I'm not enough skilled at this level...

The Coon surface work (in my 3D soft with 3 profiles - 2 on x, 1 on y)
With the Gordon you are not limited with the number of profiles... much more interesting :wink:

So here some example to understand the benefit of those tools:

Each of those example are done in 0.1s... the third is not a Gordon surface, just a double extrusion... also a "must have" tool...

All good soft must handle extrusion from face:

With those tools, all is possible with great facility, so if your soft don't have those possibility, better look for another one...

It's not inverted. It's showing the other side of the flag.

Remember that the U.S. flag is attached to a flagpole so that the stars are close to the pole.
The flag is painted on the shuttle as if the wind were blowing it due to the flight. See, for example,

Yes, for sure... how?? well as always, mapping some pictures on the differents parts of the model... I will try to do new accurate textures...

In NASA terms "stack" is the whole launch unit. Boosters, tank and shuttle...

Tx... Why not... The "stack" :wink: seems to be not so complicated. I will have a closer look to the Nasa photos to see If I can find all necessary details.

Yes, but I will do a test with textures created from the existing photo from Nasa, perhaps I can do a close to realistic model...
