Where is Chris ??
When will we have this in OS X ? Dirkpitt ?
The best thing is that with half a page of PERL script I can extract the Hubble classifications, actual dimensions, inclinations and position angles, colors and luminosities of a huge number of galaxies from the most accurate catalog of 14000 deep sky objects (Steinicke)
They will all look in quality similar to the set I displayed above!
No sign from Chris whatsoever, since weeks...
Bye Fridger
pleeeeeease t00fri,
put some more picts of those sexy babes ! Show us a galaxy with those red spots on them (?), from many angles (front and side). And what about fps ? How are the performances of your machine with those things ?
I can't wait for this stuff on my machine !
More pictures please !

OK, here is a bit more
Enjoy,

t00fri,
what are color variations possible ? Can you make a redish galaxy ? And another one with some blue and red parts ? Can you show us some ? (and please, not on a bike , or they will have a cold )

well apparently, this is a MAJOR advancement. Chris must absolutly awake !
t00fri, will you make the galactic catalog addon available soon ? I guess you will have to wait until this modification is added to the official Celestia.
Also, can you make a galaxy with more random colors, I mean something with some red, blue and white parts in the same object ? Can you show an extreme example of color variations ?

What about the system performances, t00fri ?
Too early to say, since the reading in of the "template galaxy points" is presently done in Ascii format. In binary it will be much faster. My machine is very fast, so I can see no deceleration yet whatsoever...
Any color and luminosity distribution may easily be
incorporated. At present, this is just a simple hack to get a feel...
Here is a green galaxy with whitish center & earth

I can't wait to see all these live, fully working in 3D. This is just too much !
It's about time we could see the universe as on the real pictures. Think about that Hubble Deep Field, for example, with all those chrismas like colors.

I've missed for a few days and I'm glad to see that the things are going on quite good.
Fridger and Toti congratulations! The screenshots are really spectacular.
To enhance a bit the visual appearance and simulate the dark clouds I suggest to set some blobs with a dark color and a low transparency.
Many thanks guys. I think that when Fridger will exctract the 14000 galaxy database this will be the greatest cosmological enhancement of Celestia so far!
