Day at Night....

Or more correctly, full brightness haze on the night side, sometimes with/without bright clouds as well.

It's difficult for me to pinpoint the exact conditions, but it seems to happen when I have the nightside of Earth in full view at the same time the Sun and Moon are also in view. If I rotate my view or even I crop the display window so either the sun or moon are cropped out, the problem stops. When I use Basic or Multitexture paths, it does not happen. When I use any of the other paths, including my usual "NV C+ARB VP", it does happen. It also has happened with other planets and rings....

If you can create a Cel:// URL when you see the problem, that would make it possible to recreate it.

I don't see anything like what you describe on my system, which suggests it might be a problem that shows up only on Macs.

System:
512MB, 2.4GHz P4, WinXP Pro SP2
128MB FX 5200, ForceWare v66.81
Celestia v1.4.0pre6

Day6 at night Cel URL

cel://Follow/Sol:Earth/2005-04-06T14:03 ... 57235&lm=0

This should display the problem. If not, I noticed that adjusting the FOV or zooming in and out will make the problem appear/disappear (it only happens at certain "distance" ranges)

Thanks!

That sounds very similar to display problems that MX cards have since some time, because NVIDIA isn't able to deliver newer drivers that work well with those cards.
