[Cassini] new Enceladus pics

Post #1by Evil Dr Ganymede » 09.03.2005, 19:35

A hires image from today's close flyby has been put on the raw images page. I thought they'd be put up tonight but evidently some are coming through already

I'd prefer something with more shadows on it, but you can clearly see the arcuate cracks here. It's not quite the same morphology as seen on Europa, but it's very interesting nonetheless!

They've got a huge number of raw images up there now. It looks as if there are still more to come, as the latest ones are near closest approach. There are supposed to be some new, best-ever Tethys images in store, too.

Some crescent-Enceladus pictures up now, and some of Tethys too. It looks like they've got some fairly detailed shots looking down into Ithaca Chasma on Tethys, though they won't look that good until somebody can take care of the lossless-compression-buffer-overflow dropouts (I'll probably try my hand at that later).
