Adjusting Celestia Settings....

Post #1by dallas » 05.03.2005, 09:01

Is there anyway to adjust the panning settings? The arrow keys that move the scene right, left, up, down. I would like to slow them down a bit. Thanks.

Dallas,

You might want to spend some time reading through the file celestia.cfg. It initializes various control parameters for Celestia. One of them is "RotateAcceleration", which does what you want.

Hello Dallas,

This could be what you are looking for.

Open the celestia.cfg file in the main Celestia directory with any text editor ( I have Windows XP so I use Notepad )

Look for this section;

Code: Select all

#------------------------------------------------------------------------
# RotateAcceleration defines the speed at which an object will be
# rotated in Celestia, when using a keypress, such as the left and right
# arrow keys. A higher value will rotate the object quicker, while a
# lower value will cause a slower rotation. The default value is 120.0.
#------------------------------------------------------------------------
  RotateAcceleration 120.0

Adjust the value to your reqirements and save the new setting.

Hope this helps,

Dallas. I use a Rotate Acceleration value of 35 in the cfg file. It is just about right.
