I notice that it uses a lot of processor. Has anyone else noticed this, or is it just me?
I have a P4 at 2.6ghz with 512mb ram so there should be no problem with my 'puter.
Processor usage.
Celestia uses all of the CPU if it cannot finish updating its window before your display does its next refresh. You can turn on Celestia's FramesPerSecond display by typing a ` (backslanted apostrophe)
If you simplify the display enough so that Celestia can draw everything in less than your screen's refresh rate, then it will use less than 100% of the CPU. Reduce the angular diameter of the planet you're viewing, disabling all labels and changing the limiting magnitude so fewer stars are drawn sometimes can be enough. Of course, reducing the screen refresh rate to 60Hz helps, too.
