Request to Selden: Screenshot Contest

Post #1by jgrillo2002 » 23.02.2005, 04:08

HI. I was thinking of making a Screenshot Contest f the Month. each month, competitors post their own best screenshots from celestia. when that is done, people can vote for the best picture from the nominators.

What do you think?

My opinion

I think that would be a fun idea! It can include images from fictional addons too can't it? I've got plenty of those.

You CAN post any pictures in the ADDONS forum. You don't need their permission, unless I'm wrong !

It's a fun idea. Go ahead. Pictures, pictures, pictures !

I don't think you need anyone's permission.

However, I'd suggest that people only post "thumbnails" on the Forum with URLs that link to the corresponding full resolution pictures.
It's very annoying to have to wait for long downloads that you've already seen.

Here's one way to do it:

Code: Select all

for example:

The url of the large, high resolution image is inside the brackets, between ""
The url of the thumbnail image is between "".
As a result, the low resolution thumbnail is drawn and acts as a link to the high resolution screengrab.

It looks like this:

Click on this thumbnail to see the full-resolution picture.

This is a great idea . . . I'd like to put the top five on the Celestia site.

Do we have a specific launch date for the contest? Will it be here on the forum or another website?
