Looking for a 3D star charts where POV != the sun.

Post #1by LordHelmchen » 15.01.2005, 00:24

Hi,

i'm looking for 3D star charts (or a Soft that displays this charts) where the next neighbours of our sun
can be viewed in a X-Y-Z system.
Ranges: <20 Lj, <50 Lj, <100 Lj.

Any directions, keywords, ideas?

Try:
http://www.projectrho.com/starmap.html
Probably the best source of information in the net about that subject.
I have some of my own stuff at:

Why do people talk about other links or software in this Celestia forum, while Celestia can do the requested task beautifully and accurately?

-- Celestia is able to draw 3d starcharts.
-- The file data/nearstars.stc contains all notable stars within 25 ly distance to sol, including /multiple systems/!
-- In windows there is in addition a slider, where the max distance of stars may be filtered.

The only point is to take a very new PRE 1.4.0 version of Celestia, since Grant has completed the nearstars file not long ago and the multiple star rendering also requires pre1.4.0...
