Positions of geostationary satellites are wrong.

Post #1by Tomasz M. Bladyniec » 25.02.2005, 02:06

Did you notice that all geostationary satellites from Thomas Gullipain's add-on are in wrong places over the Earth? I believe such satellites as Astra or Eutelsat (well-known European TV satellites) should be over the Europe, chinese-named ones - over China and Brasilsat over Brasil... Im affraid everything is in wrong place :( And it can't be Celestia orbit algorithms' fault, because geo satellites are synchornised with Earth and have no eccentricity etc. :(
I have noticed that everything is repositioned in 90 grades. Do you know how to simply replace all of them in proper places in the sky?

Tomasz,

You should consider contacting Thomas directly and asking him. He hasn't posted anything here for a long time and may not see your question. A revised catalog might be appropriate.
