Installation on a Linux system

I' ve compiled and installed Celestia using the CVS snapshot from Christophe. That was done without any problem. The only thing that dos 'not fit into my Linux world are the installation directories.
After a normal installation everything is installed into /usr/local/share...., so i need to be root to edit the scripts, add some new addons or textures. I don't like this, because i only logon as a normal user.
Installing with the --perfix=/home/... option everything is installed into my home directory, even the program itself. Now i've got a /bin and a /share directory in my home. That's not exactly what i've expected from that option.
Is it possible to have Celestia installed the normal way to /usr/local etc. and tell it to look for additional files in a different place like /home/MyHome/Celestia/extras.

Of course! Just edit the celestia.cfg configuration file. You can put just as many directories for 'extras' as you want. I've never tried to specify absolute paths, but it should work (there is even a comment about that in the default configuration).
