Alright, first, I believe I saw this topc beofre, but I cannot find it now. My question is:

How can I change the names of Stars in Celestia?

I forgot to mention I am using Version 1.3.2 I read Seldens add-on brief, and I am still confused. Also I am using the 1 million stars.dat add-on from Celestia Motherlode (not sure of author). When I open it the characters are not in English so I cannot read or change it. any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Dunno if this is what you're after, but if you look in the /data directory of your Cassini folder (same one that stars.dat is located in) you'll see a file called starnames.dat. You can edit this file in a text editor, it's just a list of HIP numbers and names. Just find the HIP number of the star you want to edit, and put the name next to it in the same format (you can add a HIP number and name if it isn't on the list, obviously).

Incidentally, if your question isn't directly related to writing or using scripts in Celestia, you should post it on the Celestia Users board instead.

Since when does the stars.dat file reside in a special Cassini folder???
Or are you just completely occupied by the Cassini/Huygens mission ;)
