Hi I have a question: My friend says that i can send an e-mail to "NASA" or another group and then i can have an own star, so i can say that is my own star :!:

Is this true :?:

Only the IAU can properly name a star, and ownership (aside from being totally meaningless in an interstellar forum) is beyond any national or organizational perogative.

Any company that says otherwise... in fact, any organization offering this, period... is a scam meant to charge you way too much money for a crummy little piece of meaningless paper.

Does the same thing go for that "lunar embassy" company? I heard it was on CNN or Conan O'brien once. (I saw it on the conan o'brien part.)

Current international treaty between the spacefaring nations forbids the ownership of a non-Earthly body, or a portion thereof. I'm not sure I've heard of this Lunar embassy, but I recall the nipplehead who tried, or is trying, to claim that Eros was his asteroid, and that NASA owes him fees for landing NEAR on it.

Not only does that guy have international law against him... but he's a nutter.
