I've just installed celestia 1.5. on Community 10.1 from rpm.
The splash-screen displays...and Celestia crash before it has a chance to appear on the screen.

Unfortunately, there is no such thing as Celestia v1.5.

The current version of Celestia is v1.3.2, unless you build from the CVS archive on SourceForge, in which case you'll be running a prerelease of Celestia v1.4.0.

I'd suggest you try to find out who built the version of Celestia that you're trying to run and get that person to help.

Alternatively, you might try rebuilding Celestia from scratch yourself.

My guess is that the version of Celestia that you have either is not compatible with the 3D graphics drivers installed on your system or is not compatible with the version of KDE installed on your system.
