Love Celestia - Neat program
Everytime I approach a planet, OSX freezes and I need to shut down and reboot. I have tried to approach Earth about 10 times and have crashed everytime when I get within a million or so km. Any fixes or ideas ? Please - not too technical I'm not a programer.

I'm having the same problem. Switching-off ring shadows fixes it for me.

It's only my G5 that suffers from "GUI freezes" on celestia, I don't encounter any problems on both my iMac's (17" & 20").
The G5 has a radeon 9600 pro card and the iMac's have NVIDEA GeForce cards.
My G5 was tested with a NVIDEA card borrowed from another G5 and Celestia ran fine on that configuration, no fixes applied!
My G5 has shown the same "freezing" symptoms also using other (including apple-) software with the radeon card on all Panther releases!
I wouldn't be surprised if the whole problem lies in the ATI/Mac combination.
Regards.
