Hey. I just discovered a great 2 page article on Celestia (pg 35-36) in November/04's issue of Discover magazine. Writer Steven Johnson sings the praises of Celestia for all to read. He also cites the Motherlode as a source for a lot of add-ons.
I suspect the traffic and interest in Celestia has just taken a quantum leap. Congratulations, everyone.

Can you give a short summary of what the author likes, or (at least as important) what he doesn't like? I am just curious...

Chris,
If you granted them an interview, it is standard practice for them to send you multiple copies of the issue for your uses. If they have not yet done so, you should call the reporter and request several copies be sent to you. Again this is standard practice for magazines so don't hesistate and don't buy a copy at the newstands.
cheers,
Walton

A warning:
Every time I try to use Firefox to look at http://www.discover.com, it locks up solid
Internet Explorer is able to display their Web site OK, though.

Hm, I'm in contact with an Editor of "Astronomie heute" (the german issue of S&T), because they are planning a report of Celestia in December 2004.
But he told me that they don't send free copies to me! Even the Editors would not get free issues. Is this believable? - I don't know.

re
way cool i bet that trafic will co up
I just saw this article yesterday. It was very complementary (no criticism that I remember) but it didn't include any screenshots, which seemed a little strange to me. It was nice to see celestiamotherlode.net in little blue glossy print, in a real magazine, though.
Over the last couple days, sessions at the site have gone from ~900-1000 a day to close to 1800. Our traffic has almost doubled as a result of the mention.
Cheers,
Joe

Hi, I'd just like to say that after reading the article at work I tore out the page and brought it home (usually I just read and throw mags away while at work). Celestia sounds great, I can't wait to try it out. I'll be waiting about 40 more minutes because of my 56k
Anyways, just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in.
