Tar.gz files...

Post #1by Rassilon » 17.07.2002, 10:38

What program is recommended for win32 to zip files in this format? And will it span files without having to use a disk? Like WinRAR?
I'm trying to teach the cavemen how to play scrabble, its uphill work. The only word they know is Uhh and they dont know how to spell it!

If you don't want to install the Cygwin set (which is some sort of *NIX system running on top of windows, http://www.cygwin.com/ ) then you should download the tar and gzip ports to Windows:

http://www.gzip.org/gzip124xN.zip

http://mirrors.kernel.org/gnu/tar/tar-1.12.msdos.exe

I'm afraid you wouldn't be able to span files. You'll have to cut the big file in pieces and then concat the files before decompressing.
