I've downloaded 6.2b 4 times. Go to open it and the file is corrupted.
6.2a, c, d and e are fine. Where to get another link?????

Kane,

There's no need to post the same message in all of the forums. Most readers select "show all new posts". Seeing the same post multiple times can be rather annoying. I'm sure Frank has seen your message.

Are you using a "download accelerator" by any chance? Such things often cause the problem you report.

I don't use an accelerator and downloaded all of the activities with no problems.

Sorry about all the posts, just new to this forum, didn't know where to put this particular one.

OK, I'm sorry if folks have been having trouble downloading some files from my site.

I just now went to my website and downloaded and unzipped Activity 6.2b.zip. The file unzipped fine with no error messages. I then downloaded and unzipped Primitive Earth-b.zip. It too unzipped fine with no errors. All I can think of is what Selden suggested regarding download accelerators, or perhaps there was something wrong with my server net connection when you were trying to download it.

Anyway, it is working now, so please try again. Do not use Download Accelerator.

Regards,

Frank

I have to agree - there are so many bad/stupid/broken Download Accelerators out there, it's just sad. Regarding the speed of downloads (i.e. parallel requests): either the server is fast enough, then you don't need a Download Accelerator (TCP is doing a good job), or the server is the bottleneck, then you should not use a DA because you are trying to get an unfair share of the download bandwidth and stressing the server more than you should. :x

Sorry, I just had to write this,

Harald

part b

I'm also having trouble getting part B. Not using any download accelerator since I'm at work using their fast connection. I can only get up to 7,559k downloaded then it drops out. Seems to stop each time at or around 8 MB. Tried 3 different and various times during the night, didn't want to hog the connection :-) Had no problem at all with parts A and C.

This is weird. My site is hosted by a friend. He works from home and when he is working on his business stuff, my downloads drop in priority. It is possible that at times, he is uploading or downloading something that takes precidence but I spoke to him and he is not aware of any activity on his part that should be dropping my downloads out in mid-stream. All I can suggest is to try the site at different times. I have no idea why part b is the problem file, since it is not even the biggest file on the site.

Sorry. Maybe it is Murphy at work

Yeah, that is weird! Tried it again tonight at various times and each time it stops dead at or close to 8 MB. Even tried downloading Part C again (the largest file) as a test and it worked fine. Gave it a few minutes then tried Part B again, same thing...stops at 8 MB. Murphy really doesn't like that file :-) Very strange! Will keep trying.

I've just downloaded again the 6.2.b, WITHOUT Download Accelerator.
It is 10980 kb, opens regularly, and is absolutely identical to the one I downloaded many months ago. :D
I'm using Internet Explorer 6.0.2800.1106.XPSP2.030422-1633, upgraded with: SP1; Q837009; Q832894; Q831167.
This perhaps may help, if the problem is Internet version.

Hi Andrea

Thanks for the info and yes I'm using the same version of IE with all the latest updates. Even tried Netscape 4 and Netscape 7 with same results. But I did finally get the file after I used Getright 4.1.1...strange. I had absolutely no problems downloading Parts A and C, only B. Anyway, my problem for this one is solved :-)

Hey again, oddly enought I wasn't using an accelerator. I went as far as shuting down the computer, went back on, and they both downloaded just fine. Close encounters of the third kind??? Hey, maybe someone can do the ship??????????????????? Thanks for the suggestions and most of all thanks for all the hard work. Celestia is the next best thing to sitting outside with the telescope!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
