I?ll answer as best i can, but it seems to me there?s something wrong with your setup, or maybe your ssc file might be corrupted.
I downloaded the version 1.2. How should the ssc file look like?

It does that in the novel: on the first flyby, Gallia impacts the Earth, goes right through the Mediterranean, and captures half of the sea and a few pieces of land. The orbit Jestr made follows the description in the book exactly on this event.

maxim wrote:3. Why does Gallia do those stop&go movements on his track?
I don?t know how this was done, but the orbit follows Jules Verne?s description as much as was practical (we discovered that his orbit is very unrealistic, but chose to follow it anyway, to match the story).
Well, unfortunately I don't know the book, I don't know where to get it, and I'm afraid I won't have time to read it.
How about a tour script that shows the highlights of the story, together with an overview version of it. Is that an executable idea?

rthorvald wrote:Same answer to both questions: Marc made the spec and bumpmap from a modified version of the Galliamap, where i removed the small islands (the bump and spec are not really made for this add-on, but for a planetmap for Mostly Harmless).
If you find a quick way to make it available, I would like to have an untiled map, to make my own spec and bump map.

Yes, but not 100% - 60% to 80% perhaps.

Well, i haven?t had the time to learn Celscripting :-)

But the book is freely available from the Gutenberg project (the link is in the Gallia thread in the Celestia development forum - together with links to a lot of other info about Verne?s book).

you can download a 42 mb tiff file with alpha layer and a mask for the oceans from: http://runar.thorvaldsen.net/celestia/temp/th_gallia8k.tif. (This is a temporary link).

The Gallia ssc V1.2 is here: http://runar.thorvaldsen.net/celestia/temp/gallia.ssc

You must set Celestia time to between 24. december 1878 and 01. january 1880, as Gallia only exists in that time period.

Look in the readme: there?s a number of interesting dates there, too.
Or visit my website: a lot of CelUrls to click on there, that will start Celestia at relevant times and places.

I have set the time @1874 instead of 1878... now I can see Gallia, thank you for help!
