Alien worlds revisited...

Post #1by Rassilon » 02.07.2002, 00:16

Heres what can be done adding stars and nebula...I may make this a galactic core but I think I would need to populate it with more stars...and a black hole for the center...

I will eventually release this when Celestia 1.2.5 is out...

Very, very impressive again, Rassilion ;)

The slight purple/brown star haze does the trick for alieness and so does the light violett ocean.

Question: Celestia right now only does greyscale stars due to engine limitations. How did you do the purple/brown version?

Take care, Axel

The grayscale can be modified very simply...

I have done another Galaxy rendering system than the default one... My galaxies are not only composed of the dark default grey...

And they are more visible when you get out of the galaxy...

if you want a little video send me an email :

Did you modify the code or was it some modding magic?

So in other words you modified the "stars.dat" folder in order to create this star system? It's really cool :) , and I would just like to find out how to do it...

Well, if you modified the code but don't want to distribute it yet, why don't you put the binary (just the exe) on e.g. Brucker so we can see. That's much better than do show a necessaryly limited movie.

Reg. the purple/brown star haze: I had the impression Rassilion had did it somehow. Or am I wrong?

Svartos re-visited

Post #8by Rassilon » 02.07.2002, 23:51

Actually I remembered my Armada modding skills and figured out a way to retexture individual stars...Not hard really...unless you use a disfigured model like Svartos...

But redoing a red supergiant wasnt so hard though...

I have plans to model this star system much like ours...with a few differences ;)

Just to give you a bit of where I am at in the universe right now...

http://cybermindtraveller.freewebspace.com/celestia/vistaoflori.jpg

Cold and alone on the icy plain of some alien moon...Its so silent in space...All you would hear is your breathing echo throughout the envirosuit ;)

Ive been playing with speculars and transparency to give this moon the real icy feel...
