Is it planned to include movie-making, like in the windows-version, in the linux-version ?

I would really enjoy this feature

It shouldn't be too difficult, all the necessary hooks are in place. The main problem would be choosing a library: ffmpeg, xine, gstreamer, transcode... something else ?

If you want to contribute, you're welcome.

Are any of these cross-platform?

Thanks among others to FFmpeg this is now a thing of the past, the range of supported formats and codecs under Linux is now as good as under Windows, and as an added benefit you don't have to use three players to view Quicktime/Real/Wmv content.
