[forum bug[ Too many users?

Ive been getting a lot of these errors over the past 24 hours - are the forums getting overloaded?:

Warning: Too many connections in /var/www/html/forum/db/mysql4.php on line 48

Warning: MySQL Connection Failed: Too many connections in /var/www/html/forum/db/mysql4.php on line 48

Warning: mysql_error(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /var/www/html/forum/db/mysql4.php on line 330

Warning: mysql_errno(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /var/www/html/forum/db/mysql4.php on line 331

Could not connect to the database

I think it's a bug in the version of phpBB that I'm using. I've been meaning to upgrade but haven't found the time. I don't know when I'll have the time to take care of it . . . I've just been restarting the SQL server when I see this error.
