That's a tuffy Enfield...
I'm using Celestia 1.3.2 Pre3 and the Version I get from the Help screen option is 1.3.2 Pre 1.
Have you noticed any new features since the installation? Ask Selden or Don about what to expect in a version. I'm sure that they'd know the answer.
Take care, Bob

enfield,
I'm guessing you're looking at the version info that's stored in one of the Windows-specific fields that shows up in crash outputs. That value never has been set.
Instead look in Celestia's Help menu. The value in the About message is set to the correct value when a final release is created. Often it gets overlooked for the pre releases, though.

By dragging the mouse curser over the latest 1.3.2pre3 celestia.exe, I am seeing the following information;
If you could post us your full details, then I'm sure someone will be able to tell you which version you're running. The 1.0.0.1 always seems to be there, but the date and size info should give us a clue !

Hello enfield, and welcome to Celestia!
The current final "released" version of Celestia is 1.3.1, released on December 29, 2003, and can be found at the Celestia download page: http://www.shatters.net/celestia/download.html
The current Pre-Release version of Celestia is 1.3.2 pre3. Pre-releases are the next version of Celestia (in this case 1.3.2) IN-PROGRESS. This means that some things might not work just right, some new features might not yet be complete, etc. Here are two links to this pre-release, if you feel adventurous:
* http://www.h-schmidt.net/celestia/celestia-win32-1.3.2pre3.exe
* http://www.shatters.net/celestia/files/celestia-win32-1.3.2pre3.exe
Hope this helps!
