Turning off Shadows no fix

Post #41by danny1000 » 19.01.2004, 19:07

Hi galpd320,

thanks for the hint, but the rendering of Saturn is very slow after all. I am using a Radeon 9000.

I cannot see the pictures at the beginning of the thread. Do they look something like:

Then I have the same problem. As I am using the Omega-drivers, I cannot contact ATI. If I contact the makers of the omega-drivers, what should I report? What exactly is the error?

Thanks!

Daniel

Catalyst 4.2

If you check the Release notes for Catalysts 4.2 (should be out very soon) they specificly state that the Celestia problem is fixed. Can't wait to see if this is true.

Saturn ring shadows are working with 4.2 Catalyst and Radeon 9000!!! If you know "Orbiter", it also solves the Antialiasing-flashing problem (DirectX in this case)! For me it's like christmas

Cheers everybody!

It is definitely great that it works fast and without texture corrupion now. I have on question though. When I enable ring shadows a new shadow appears on top of the planet, that wasn't there before. I know that the shadows should be projected onto a planet now but I'm not sure if the projection is correct. I would post some screenshots to forum but I don't know how.

JLP,

Does it look something like this?

Here's a Cel:// URL to take you to this viewpoint:
cel://Follow/Sol:Saturn/2003-02-23T19:28:00.94878?x=gIrzo5aetl/CDA&y=ihA2KHdInVb9/////////w&z=daRef5H26Ftx/////////w&ow=0.780739&ox=0.089346&oy=0.611213&oz=0.094246&select=Sol:Saturn&fov=45.000000&ts=1.000000<d=0&rf=6023&lm=0

To provide a picture of what you see, put your image on a Web server somewhere and post its URL. The details are in the phpbb FAQ. A link to it is at the very top of this page.
