Okay,
I've been confused beyond all hope by some of the addons and textures I've downloaded for Celestia, and I intend to do something about it...
I hereby offer my services for free, to ANYONE who wants to repair their texture maps so that the Central Meridian of the planet being rendered is in conformance with the new standard used by Celestia to render planetary objects.
In other words, you can either point me to a location where I can download your textures, or you can E-mail me a copy of your image, and I'll fix it for you and e-mail the CORRECTED version back to you in order to get rid of all these confusing and extremely frustrating image maps which have their 0 degrees of longitude set at someplace OTHER than the exact center of the image.
Fridger, Rassilon, anybody else? I'm SERIOUS about this.
You have *no* idea how much confusion this concept is causing people who are NEW to Celestia. Having had the good fortune of learning about this problem from Mr. Hutchison, I'd be MORE than happy to help CORRECT the problem.
Take care, Bob

Bob,
One problem is that some of the texture authors, Fridger in particular, only have dialup lines at home. That's the primary reason he hasn't been keeping the "Texture Foundry" up to date. The textures are gigantic and take forever for him to up/download.
You might want to consider asking Chris for file space on http://www.shatters.net.
Then, for example, as you upload the repaired surface maps, Fridger could consider changing (or maybe just adding) links on the Foundry page so they point to your corrected versions.

Just so's you know, Selden, I only have a dial-up line too...
I'm STILL willing to provide this service though. Just so we can ELIMINATE the confusion involved.
Thanks, Bob
