Planet Dot Color
I think when zoomed out far enough, the dot that replaces the planet should be the color of the planet instead of white, which looks like a star. Like Mars should be Red/Orange. Neptune should be blue and such.

Jack,
On my system, I see the same problem.
When "Star Style" is set to "Scaled Discs", if I back away from Mars to exactly the distance where it is replaced by a disc, that replacement disc is white instead of the color of the planet.
I do see a thin red circle around the edge of the white disc, but that's just because the disc is just slightly smaller than the visual diameter of the planet.
With a full screen display and an FOV of about 43 degrees, for Mars the distance at which the white disc appears is slightly more than 602,200 km. Also, the blue Earth is replaced by a white disc at about 1,045,000 km.
It doesn't matter whether orbits are enabled or not.
System:
256MB 500MHz P3, WinXP Pro, sp1
128MB GF4 Ti4200, Nvidia drivers v44.03
Celestia v1.3.1pre11

I just tryed this on my system
and all three star types looked like a small orange dot when zoomed out.
But not initially, when it first changes into a dot it was white.
then zoom out just a little way more and the dot changed to orange.
I think it just takes Celestia a little while to realise that it has changed to a dot and to apply the colour.
