3d bump map

3d bump map

Would it be possible to have 3d bumpmaps in Celestia? so when you go to the surface of a planet you would see a 3d relief (not a flat picture of a 3d relief).

It would probobly be to buch strain on the video card, even a top of the line video card :?

Not if an appropriate LOD algorithm was used.

A technology like that already exists, its called displacement mapping. It's basically 3d bumpmapping.
