Mercury texture?

Post #1by Evil Dr Ganymede » 16.11.2003, 17:53

Any news on that big Mercury texture someone was developing a while back, that had both halves of the Caloris Basin?

No need to mirror his site as its on the shatters.net server and isn't likely to be going anywhere soon. I am sure he is out there lurking and checks in from time to time. I think his work was starting to take up more of his time but of course I can't be sure about that. We have a mostly civil relationship in the forum but occasionally we step on each other toes. But I have no idea what he is up to. I am sure when he has something amazing to show us he will pop in and share what he has been up to.

So hey Fridger if you are out there drop a line to the forum so we now your still breathing.

Well, those extra dimensions he is discovering perhaps made a lot of new space to be lost into...

Hey Paul, Don, Javier and Rass' (<-PM),

thanks for "calling up"!

I am alive and very well...

But indeed, I have recently been showing up in the forum very rarely. Don was right with a number of things: most of all, lots of work. But this is only part of the reason. Perhaps as a "senior" member of this forum, I might be allowed to honestly confess what also played a major role for my 'elusiveness' in recent times. Perhaps it also has a positive effect, despite being provocative (as usual;-)).

-- first of all, I noticed that a significant number of those people, whose contibutions I used to value very much have also become very quiet recently...

-- also Chris' contributions have become rather rare during the last months ...

-- in short, I feel a lot of 'pepper and salt' is missing recently! Also at the developer front things are moving slowly...

-- In fact, I do have quite a number of interesting new results, but so far felt that only very few of the remaining 'activists' in the forum might actually be interested. Perhaps that was not correct. I'll give it a try.

Thanks again for 'missing me';-)

Bye Fridger

Hello, Fridger, glad to see you still come here to visit us!

I know, this place is not as 'geeky' as it was in the past... It's always the same with improved projects, but remember, that's the result of the work of you 'pioneers'. Enjoy a work well done, and when you have time again, help youngsters to follow your steps...

Oh, and it is true about the smiley, did you forget to unmark the disable checkbox? you are losing your strict fidelity to the old standards...

Hey Fridger!

Glad to see you back arround!

I agree with you about the forum, the trafic has gone up but so has the noise/signal ratio (well at least according to what I'm interested in - that's not a general judgement on the latest contributions). The forums seem to have been deserted by developers, and development appears to be at a standstill. I sure would welcome more activity there and at last a 1.3.1 release!

Hey Christophe,

yes, I am 'sort of back';-). You characterized my problem perfectly: "signal/noise";-)

Let's do something about it....

You were definitely one of the people, whose decreasing presence in the forum I was missing...

Bye Fridger
