Arctic textures

Does anyone know of any big Earth textures that include the Arctic-I've nearly finished making a 64k(well 43k Blue Marble scaled up) virtual texture but would like to put the Arctic back in,but the biggest cylindrical texture I can find with the Arctic is on the Space Graphics site (10k x 5k).When compared with the marble texture however this looks a little bit blurry up close.-yours hopefully Jestr

Jestr,
That is the same problem I came across with my 32k texture. Being that it is just basicly pack ice its fairly flat anyway so there souldn't be any reliefe so to speak. You could manualy add some texturing to the ice if you feel it needed but really how many users are going to be looking at the ice close up. they are going to go for the land masses versus looking at flat non discript ice features. Just my opinion on the subject.

BTW
I chose not to use the artic ice from the Space-Graphics texture for a few readons. One was that it had what looks like a giant section of ice that is submerged west of Greenland. I ended up using Blue Marbles Land Surface, Ocean Color and Sea Ice texture and blowing it up. It really doesn't make that big of a diference when it comes to flat textures sections.

Ah, never say never!!
Past texture releases, Hmm let me think about it

Thanks for your understanding.

thanks Don,I guess I'll try to add some texture to one of these maps. The marble has a quite good image of the antarctic-it seems a shame not to include the arctic-you think pack ice would have stretch marks like on Europa?Jestr

jestr,
Actualy the pack ice does have dikes and cracks but they are substantialy smaller on the Earth than on Europa. In order to see these cracks you would need to go down several more levels to see them. Two other reasons that they are not as big as on Europa in the ice thinkness and the diference in Earhts gravity versus Europa. A higher gravity is going mean smaller cracks in the ice. Hope this helps.
