Edit the ssc files that you downloaded and name all the stages "ISS".
It should look like this:
Fot Stage 1A

Code: Select all

"ISS" "Sol/Earth"
{
   Class "spacecraft"
   Mesh "iss_1A.3DS"
   Radius 0.006
   Beginning       2451138    # Zarya module launched Nov 20, 1998
   Ending            2451152    # Unity module launched Dec 4, 1998

   EllipticalOrbit   # Orbit Updated 28-Sept-03 15:45 UTC
   {
      Period          0.064006944   # minutes/1440
      SemiMajorAxis   6759
      Eccentricity    0.0006066
      Inclination      51.631
      AscendingNode   164.484
      ArgOfPericenter 22.285
      MeanAnomaly      23.348
      Epoch           2452921.344
   }

   Orientation [120 0 0 1]
   Obliquity -35.5
   RotationOffset 120
   Albedo        0.10
}

For Stage 2A

Code: Select all

"ISS" "Sol/Earth"
{
   Class "spacecraft"
   Mesh "iss_2A.3DS"
   Radius 0.011
   Beginning       2451152    # Unity module docked Dic 4, 1998
   Ending            2451752   # Zvezda module docked July 26, 2000

   EllipticalOrbit   # Orbit Updated 28-Sept-03 15:45 UTC
   {
      Period          0.064006944 # minutes/1440
      SemiMajorAxis   6759
      Eccentricity    0.0006066
      Inclination      51.631
      AscendingNode   164.484
      ArgOfPericenter 22.285
      MeanAnomaly      23.348
      Epoch           2452921.344
   }

   Orientation [120 0 0 1]
   Obliquity -35.5
   RotationOffset 120
   Albedo        0.10
}

And so on...

In Celestia you will have many objects named ISS, but all of them will be on the same point...

That was the best solution I had too. If there's no way of getting a single ISS entry in the satellites drop-down it'll have to do

Hi all,

If my 64k normal map is ready I will try to find a way to make it available. But the zip size will be somewere over 200mb (unziped round 3GB, U888 DDS file format). This quality bump mapping is only possible with uncompressed grafic formats. JPG and DDS dxt1/dxt3 cause to strong artifacts. But I hope seriously that Chris will/can add the palleted 8bit DDS format to Celestia. This would shrink the texture size on disk by factor 3.

A bad news is that you will need 512mb better 1gb ram to have fun.

TERRIER wrote:As for your screenshot Jim, it is simply stunning, are those the Alps I can see?
Yes, those are the Alpes. Yesterday I played a bit and could find several mountains (Zugspitze). Celestia is going to be better than my atlas ;-). A detailed location file would be very usefull.

bh wrote:Jens...that Earth texture looks amazing! My 32k virtual texture pales. Is it the normal/bump mapping?
Yes, it's only the 64k bump mapping.

bond wrote:I tried to write a single ssc file which would show the current ISS at whatever date you viewed it (without having to chose one of the models, ISS 1a, ISS 2A, etc, from the drop down menu) but with no luck. It'd be nice to have just a single "ISS" in the menu, the model changing depending on the date.
Anyone have any solution?

I noticed this too. I would call this as a bug. Celestia should only show in the drop down menu active/visible addons.

Bye Jens

PS: Nobody noticed the new texture for the solar panels ;-).

Jim
Sorry if i've caused any confusion, but I was actually referring to jpg's being used for the model textures!

As for the normalmap, I would love to have a 64k DDS version, but I think for the time being it will be out of my reach. Personally, I would settle for a 16k or at a push 32k version if it were possible.
