Updating Celestia

G'day all.

I currently have Celestia Version 1.3.0 and I would like to update to the pre9 version. I am on a 56k connection and do not want to download 11 megabytes again, is there a 'patch' available so that I can download that instead?

Also would anyone happen to have the asteroid belt between mars and jupiter?

Thanks for your time! :D

You might want to check the Celestia files dir. Unfortunately there's no pre9 version exe only file.

Sure. Get this 7000+ asteroids file (440 000 bytes) or smaller > 50 km asteroids only (24 000 bytes) from Mike's Celestia Page.

Thanks for your time! :D

No problem :)

Thanks mate, that worked.

Also one (or two) more questions if anyone can answer them.

I would like to download a higher res file for the earth, I have downloaded one allready buit I do not know where to put the .dds file.

Also, if anyone has some good earth textures could they post a link here?

Thanks once again! :D

In the textures\hires folder?
Don't forget to update the solarsys.ssc file.

What about 90MB virtual texture? ;)
Celestia Texture Foundry has many textures too.

Wow.... having some odd 7000+ asteroids in Celestia surely slows it all down :D

Which part of 'Earth' in the solarsys.ssc file do I need to update, when i downloaded the texture I did not recieve an earth by night texture. Do I leave that option as is?

Thanks in advance.

yes, unfortunately I am looking for some server space to put up such files, so some files may not work. I'm going to pm chris tonight about getting some space, like 30mb or something, later tonight.

You mean you have the original night texture? Unless you want higher resolution one, just leave that as it is. Same goes with the cloud layer texture.
