I'm using Celestia 1.3.0 (Windows XP). I downloaded earth.ssc and put in the extras directory. However, even at a small distance from earth, I can't see any label of a city. What's going wrong?

Did you also activate the labels via the menue? Or toggled the '&' key?

Locations is a new feature in the 1.3.1 prerelease version, available at http://63.224.48.65/celestia/files/.
Please refer to http://www.shatters.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=20077&highlight=#20077 for a Description of Locations. Look for the section titled "How to use a Location File" for step by step instructions. This message also contain several locations where you can obtain Location .ssc files.
Hope this helps.

I'm glad. You are welcome.Herman wrote:Thank you for your answer. It works.
Yes. What I do is to change the name of the file(s) that I do not currently want to be used. Such as from "location.ssc" to "location_ssc.txt".herman wrote:Are all this ssc files used at the same time?

Sorry, I do not understand this question. Are you asking what the "&" key is called? If yes, then it would be labeled as "Toggle Location text display", or something similar.
