I currenly have the livingearth image in 4094x2048 format
i like it because of the in depth view it has (specially in shallow water)
does anybody has this file in 8192x4096 format or higher?
is it possible to post this file somewhere in dds format?

here you can try 8k and 16k dds :
ftp://ftp.dasmirnov.net/astronomy/celestia/textures/pixel/
Pixel,
I downloaded the mars16k.dds and the moon8k.dds files
2 times and they were corrupted on both trys.
could you check them out and repost them? Thanks alot
for making these available.
also would it be possible to make available a
marsbumpalpha8k.dds and a moonbumpalpha8k.dds ?
The earth one you did looks great.
Would like to see it for mars and moon too. Thanks.

I checked the moon8k.zip and it is OK.
try again. Logon as "celestia" with "uploads" as your password. As Smirnov stated you should have better bandwidth.
Unfortunatelly Celestia is not capable to handle dynamic bump-maps larger than 2k. The Earth is static bumped using bump filter. For alpha-specularmask channel i dont know if mars or moon need this. They still can't find water there
